How to publish Hypatia scientific data on the Web

Hypatia is connected to a webserver hypatia.aei.mpg.de. You may use it to make some of your own files available on the Web.

  • The directory /home/username/public_html (if existing) will be mapped to, and made accessible via https://hypatia.aei.mpg.de/~username/
  • http URLs will be auto-rewritten and -redirected to https.
  • The directory /home/username/public_html/LVC (if existing) is only accessible to LVC members (who will have to identify themselves using their LIGO.ORG “albert.einstein” credentials, registered at the LIGO roster.
    • Caveat: This also includes files and directories further down the tree, the name of which starts with LVC.
    • The same protection is offered for LSC and LIGO.

Warning: Although some initial tests have been performed, and no obvious misconfiguration or malfunction has been identified, please test, test, and test again!

  • Everything else can be accessed from the AEI internal network.
  • There's no unlimited public access anymore! AEI's IT department chose to block access to user-controlled webspace completely. We don't want that to happen.
