System description
Minerva is the current HPC cluster of the ACR group, delivered by ClusterVision and commissioned in 2016.
It was bought for running Numerical Relativity simulations.
Minerva replaces Datura, which will be switched off in early 2017 has finally been switched off and disconnected from power in mid-2018.
It consists of
- 594 compute nodes (dual-socket, eight core Intel Haswell E5-2630v3 (2.40 GHz) (=node[001-594])
- two login and one management nodes (=login[01-02],controller)
- (login nodes accessible as minerva[01-02].aei.mpg.de )
- two storage systems running BeeGFS.
It provides in total
- 9504 physical CPU cores
- about 38,000 GB RAM (4 GB per core)
- about 500 TB of disk space in 10 OSTs RAID-6 (10+2+1)
- about 280 TFlop/s (measured with HPLinpack, P=22, Q=27, NB=192, N=2020224)
